Renovating and giving new life to old things seems to be in my blood. As a teenager I discovered the world of antique furniture restoration with my dad. Then in my late twenties I bought an old house--probably the ugliest in Decatur. After gutting it, replacing the windows, and restoring the front porch, it turned out to be the nicest house on the street--and I was hooked on design.

So I shrugged off a thirteen-year career in health care to study architecture. It turned out to be as a good fit. After four years at Georgia Tech, I earned my master's degree, worked for a couple of architecture firms, then ventured out on my own as Bruce Griffeth Architect with a focus on green design.

As a lover of the natural world I have always been concerned about the use of our planet's energy sources. When an old building is undergoing a renovation transformation, making it as energy efficient as possible is a win-win for the owner and the planet, and I get to indulge in my passion: creating beautiful, healthy, and energy efficient buildings.
